It's Your Divorce, Do It Your Way
  • Are you thinking about divorce or involved in one now?

  • Are you afraid of what will happen to your family finances?

  • Do you distrust the legal system and divorce lawyers?

  • Do you feel as if your future is out of your control?

  • Do you want to do something about it?

That's where Divorce Strategy fits in. It gives you the tools and information you need to plan and manage your financial divorce. It explains what most lawyers either won't take the time to tell you or don't want you to know. The methods and tactics described in this book will help you take control so you can reduce, and in some cases eliminate, the financial consequences of your divorce.

Learn How You Can:

  • Negotiate with confidence and superior knowledge.

  • Decide whether to settle or go to trial.

  • Organize your information for the most effective presentation.

  • Ask the right questions to get the answer you need to make good decisions.

  • Customize your divorce settlement to suit your family's needs.

  • Take a more assertive and informed approach about your divorce.

  • Preserve your assets so you have more property in the marital estate.

Divorce has three sides; the emotional, the legal and the financial. Most divorcing couples spend the bulk of their time getting through the anger, pain and grief associated with divorce and worrying about how the divorce will effect their children. They leave the legal divorce up to the lawyers and, since much of getting a divorce is about how assets, debts and income are divided, they also let the legal system decide financial issues for them as well.

Why is it a mistake to let lawyers and the legal system make decisions about your financial future? Most divorce lawyers, aside from what they learn on-the-job, in statutes or from case law, have little or no education or experience in handling other people's money. Divorce lawyers concentrate on splitting assets and debts and setting amounts of support. They only deal with the here and now, and usually don't think about the mechanics of making whatever is in the order actually happen or about the future needs of the ex-spouses. Many divorced couples learn after the divorce that their divorce judgment or agreement has loopholes, doesn't work as it should for their bi-nuclear family, or costs them both additional time and money to fix.

That is why it's very important for you to take responsibility now for the financial aspects of your divorce. You can do this by becoming educated about divorce, money and strategies for realistically dividing assets, assigning debts, setting reasonable support amounts and having reachable, post-divorce goals. Divorce Strategy can show you how to do this, and more.
