For the girls, one of the most annoying aspects of coming to visit their father every week was that they had to bring something to wear to school the following day. On alternate weeks, when Cara and Adrienne would be staying with me through the weekend, they needed to bring not only school clothes, but play clothes, possibly dress clothes, appropriate shoes, school books, makeup, and all sorts of stuff they might need while spending that much time away from their mother's house. In other words, they were continually packing suitcases, duffel bags, and laundry bags at their mom's house, unpacking them at my house, then, after their visit with me concluded, packing again to return to mom. One particular Sunday night, Cara was loudly complaining about having to pack up again. The next morning, I empathized with her situation.

Sent Packing

Suitcase full of clothes,
Back and forth you goes,
From one house to another,
From yo daddy to your mother.

It's pack, unpack, pack, unpack,
Forth and back -- your stuff in a sack,
Forget a dress and get some flack.

After all these years (an tears)
You must now have the knack
Of how to pack.
